“The 4 Weekends of…” is a monthly post with ideas for things to do each weekend of the upcoming month.

With the official start of summer, June is prime time to get outside. Heading out of town on a road trip somewhere along the coast, to the islands, or into the mountains is always a good option. June is also a busy month with lots of different outdoor events for participants as well as spectators. So for this month’s “The 4 Weekends of…” we’re offering up a list of some of these events to keep you occupied just in case if you find yourself in town here in Vancouver on a weekend in June.

Weekend 1 - June 7-8, 2008

  • 2008 Vancouver BG Triathlon World Championships (Thursday through Sunday)
  • Marpole Festival at Oak Park, organized by Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre (Saturday)
  • Celebrate Mt Pleasant at Guelph Park, organized by Mount Pleasant Community Centre (Saturday)
  • Little Mountain Community Festival at Riley Park, organized by Riley Park Community Centre (Sunday)

Weekend 2 - June 14-15, 2008

  • Champlain Summer Country Fair at Champlain Community Centre (Saturday)
  • Pacific Rim Kite Festival at Vanier Park, organized by the BC Kite Flyers Association (Saturday ad Sunday)
  • Commercial Drive Festival at Grandview Park and Commercial Drive, organized by East Van Celebration Society

Weekend 3 - June 21-22, 2008

Weekend 4 - June 28-29, 2008

  • Jazzfest (June 20-29) - Jazzfest is not only the “Jazz Festival of the Year” with dozens of shows at a whole host of venues throughout the city, but it is also one of the prime opportunities you’ll have to catch an outdoor concert - for free! If you’re in town, head down towards David Lam Park to soak in the vibe.

We’re hoping to hit up a few of these ourselves so be sure to keep on the lookout for some recaps. What else will you be doing in June?
